Volleyball Falls in Three at New Hampshire on Friday NIght

DURHAM, N.H. – The Hartford volleyball team opened up the final weekend of the regular season with a straight set loss to the New Hampshire Wildcats at Lundholm Gymnasium in Durham, N.H. The Hawks (8-19, 2-9 America East) were led by senior Kami Nethersole and sophomore Kathryn Gawrych who each finished with seven kills.

Gawrych led the pair, and the Hawks, with a .304 hitting average as she finished without a kill in 23 attempts. Overall, the Hawks finished the match hitting .098 with 28 kills and 16 errors in 123 total attacks. Finishing just behind Nethersole and Gawrych was Sareeta Nethersole with five kills.

Defensively, the Hawks were led by libero Dionna Kirton who finished with 16 digs, the only player in double figures. (Sareeta) Nethersole finished with eight while (Kami) Nethersole added seven. The hawks also finished with three blocks.

New Hampshire was led by a pair of Wildcats who dropped 12 kills each, Victoria Forrest and Morgan Thatcher. On their home court, the Wildcats finished with a .269 hitting average with 42 kills and 13 errors in 108 attempts. Sam Henke led New Hampshire and all players in the match with 19 digs.

Hartford will close out the 2012 season on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Providence for a 1:00 p.m. start against the Friars.
