HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa.—Evan Russell and
Anthony Vecchiarelli were the only two individuals to finish under par through 36 holes at the Temple Invitational as the pair finished one-two and led the Hawks to the team championship Sunday. Russell earned individual medalist honors while Vecchiarelli finished as the runner-up at the Philmont Country Club as the Hartford men's golf team cruised to a 15-stroke victory.
Hartford posted an even-par 280 as a team on the par-70 course Sunday to run away with its first team title of the season and its second-straight team championship at the Temple Invitational. The Hawks carded a combined 562 for the two-round tournament, 15 strokes ahead of second-place St. John's.
Russell led the way for the Hawks, posting his second individual medalist honor in his last three tournaments. The sophomore shot a two-under-par 68 Sunday to finish the tournament at 130 (-10), the best 36-hole score in his collegiate career.
Vecchiarelli was the only other player in the field to beat par over the two-day tournament. The junior carded a 69 Sunday to close out the tournament in 138 strokes, two-under-par for the weekend. Vecchiarelli's 138 was his best 36-hole score as a collegian and gave him second-place finish overall, also a career-best.

Addison Owens and sophomore
William Betts both improved their scores from the first round. Owens carded a 71 in the final round, 10 strokes ahead of his first-round score, while Betts completed 18 holes in 72 strokes, four strokes better than Saturday. Freshman
Jonathan Malloy rounded out the Hartford five with a 75 on Sunday.
Hartford men's golf does not skip a beat, jumping right into the Connecticut Cup at Ellington Ridge Monday.
