Volleyball Falls in Four to Albany in Final Road Match

Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped its final regular season road contest of the season in four sets to the University at Albany on Sunday afternoon. Hartford was led by junior outside hitter Sareeta Nethersole who completed her 10th double double of the season with 14 kills and 14 digs.

Nethersole was one of two players in double figures offensively, joined by senior Dionna Kirton who collected 10 kills. Also among the leading hitters was rookie Corinne Horanzy and Maya Louis who finished with seven and five kills, respectively. As a team, Hartford hit .056 with 49 kills and 38 errors in 198 total attacks. The Hawks best hitting came in the first set where they finished with 17 kills, a match-high for either team, and nine errors for a .148 average.

Junior setter Jackie Tamburri also finished with a double double for Hartford, chipping in 36 assists and leading the Hawks with 24 digs, a season-high and two shy of her career best. Nethersole also added seven assists.

Joining Tamburri in stopping more than 20 Great Danes attacks defensively was freshman libero Paola Llerandi who finished with 22 total, a season best for the rookie defensive specialist. Rounding out the defensive leaders was Horanzy who added 15 digs. The Hawks also finished with seven blocks, led by Louis who finished with five total, two solo blocks and a trio of block assists.

Hartford returns to the Reich Family Pavilion for their final two matches in 2013, hosting Stony Brook (Friday, 7 p.m.) and UMBC (Sunday, 1 p.m.).
