Women's Tennis Falls in Road Contest at Fairfield

BOXSCORE

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The University of Hartford women's tennis team continued its spring schedule Thursday with a midweek road trip to face Nutmeg State foe Fairfield. The Hawks were unable to muster a point against the host Stags, falling by a final count of 7-0.

Playing at No. 3 singles, freshman Madeline Makings battled in her match against Fairfield's Carolina Koladzyn. Makings dropped a closely contested opening set, 7-5, but came back to strong in the second set with a 6-2 win. However, the rookie was unable to maintain her momentum, falling, 10-1, in the third-set tiebreak.

In the top spot, fellow freshman Emily Sneddon picked up five games over two sets, dropping a 6-4, 6-1 result.

The Stags picked up the doubles point thanks to a win at No. 1 and a default by the Hawks at No. 3. Fairfield also grabbed a free point at the No. 6 singles slot thanks to another Hartford default.

Hartford will continue its late-season road swing, heading to Stony Brook, N.Y., on Friday for a pair of matches against the Seawolves and the Binghamton Bearcats to close out the regular season schedule.
