STONY BROOK, N.Y.—The University of Hartford men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up the regular season Friday as each team played a pair of matches against America East Conference foes. The Hartford men dropped a 5-0 result to host Stony Brook and a 7-0 decision to Binghamton on the neutral court. The Hawk women fell to Stony Brook by a 7-0 count and to Binghamton, 4-0.

Against the Seawolves, sophomore Nicholas Sharwarko and freshman Morgan White kept their singles matches close. Playing at No. 2, Sharwarko took five games in the first set before falling, 7-5, 6-1. White pushed his match at No. 5 singles to a tiebreak in the first set before dropping the set, 7-6 (6). That match was called midway through the second set due to a team result having been reached. White trailed, 7-6 (6), 2-0, when the match was halted.

White also teamed with sophomore Luis Montes at No. 3 doubles to win five total games in the Hawks match against Stony Brook.

For the Hartford women, seniors Ashley Harel and Katina Zampas were leading their No. 1 doubles match, 4-3, against the Seawolves. However, the match went unfinished as the Seawolves claimed the Nos. 2 and 3 matches to take the point.

Against the Bearcats, Harel in the top spot, freshman Emily Sneddon at No. 2 and Zampas at No. 3 each won three games in their respective opening sets of singles play. However, each of those three matches were called as Binghamton had picked up four points for the team victory.

Next up for both Hartford tennis teams is a trip to Maryland for the America East Conference Championship. The Hawks will play at the Green Spring Raquet Club in Sparks, Md., starting Friday, April 25. UMBC will serve as tournament host.
