WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior Erica Primovic netted her first goal of the season in the 59th minute to give the University of Hartford a 2-1 advantage before the Wagner Seahawks forced overtime and an eventual 2-2 draw in the Hawks 2014 home opener on Thursday night. Following its third stalemate of the season, Hartford stands at 2-1-3 overall.
The Seahawks broke a scoreless tie less than a minute into the second half but Hartford answered back almost instantaneously when senior forward Chanel Johnson scored her team-leading third goal of the season collecting a Wagner clear attempt and blasting a shot just under the crossbar form six yards out.
Primovic's goal in the 59th minute provided Hartford first lead of the night, connecting with Johnson for the score. Johnson laid out to provide a cross of the end line that Primovic headed to the opposite corner of the net from the top of the six-yard box. The score for Primovic is the third of her career.
Wagner evened the score 65th minute thanks to a shot from the top right of the box from Johanna Konrad that found the opposite side of the goal.
Hartford controlled both of the extra frames, not allowing the Seahawks to take a shot in overtime. Overall, the Hawks posted a 21-7 shot advantage with eight of those shots on goal forcing Wagner keeper Katie Marcy to make six saves. Hartford net minder Alison Koerkenmeier was forced to make just one top.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
· Senior Alison Koerkenmeier made the first stop of the game in the 27th minute when she faced a shot from Wagner's Victoria Roda straightaway from 40 yards out.
· Junior Erica Primovic came off the bench in the 27th minute and immediately made an impact as she intercepted a Seahawks pass and fired a shot from right-to-left about 16 yards out that forced Wagner's Katie Marcy to make a diving stop to her left.
· Both teams came out firing in the second half, scoring matching goals just 22 seconds apart with senior striker Chanel Johnson netting her third goal of the season to even the score at one apiece.
· Johnson had another opportunity seven minutes later when she tracked down a forward pass from Aaliyah Ingram on the end line and fired a shot from five yards out that forced Marcy to make a diving stop and force a Hartford corner kick.
· Primovic scored her first goal of the season, her second shot of the game that was on target, in the 59th minute thanks to a cross from the end line from Johnson. Primovic headed her attempt from the six-yard box to the left side of the goal.
· With just over 28 minutes remaining in the second half senior defender Raelynn Mikell looked to give the Hawks a two goal lead when she had a header attempt off a corner kick that a Seahawk defender headed out of goal with Wagner's keeper out of position.
· Just under three minutes later the Seahawks evened the score thanks to a shot from the top right of the 18-yard box that beat Hawks' keeper Koerkenmeier to the opposite corner of the net
· Johnson had another attempt at scoring a go-ahead goal in the 75th minute when she battled her way through the Seahawks defense and blasted a shot that deflected off the upright and subsequently out of the 18-yard box ending the threat.
· In the 80th minute Johnson gathered a forward pass a couple yards off the end line and took a shot looking for the opposite side with her attempt deflecting off the upright for a Wagner.
· Just over two minutes later Elise Galipo gathered a cross in the middle of the 18-yard box and fired a point blank attempt with Katie Marcy out of the six-yard box but able to get a foot on the attempt keeping the score tied at two.
· The Hawks had the best scoring opportunity for either team in the first extra frame on a free kick that began off the boot of Sidney Spremullo that found the head of Mikell at the top of the six-yard box with her attempt dribbling outside the left upright.
· With just under a minute remaining in the first overtime Johnson picked off a Wagner pass and raced towards goal beating the Seahawks defense with her shot streaking wide of the far post.
· Spremullo had a the only looks in the second overtime with her opportunities coming one minute apart halfway through the second overtime. For the first she received a cross from Ingram and pushed a chip shot over the crossbar. The second came after a pass from Johnson with the attempt seeing the same result.
GOALS RUNDOWN
· Less than a minute into the second half the Seahawks Diana Saber corralled a miscue from Hawks keeper Alison Koerkenmeier and pushed her first goal of the season to the left side of an open net.
· The Hawks matched that score 22 seconds later on a scrum inside the 18-yard box with Chanel Johnson collecting a deflection and firing a shot just under the crossbar from six yards off the end line.
· In the 59th minute Erica Primovic netted her first goal of the season with the assistance Chanel Johnson who laid out to provide a cross from the end line to Primovic at the top of the six-yard box for a header goal to the opposite side of the goal.
· Wagner evened the score five minutes later when Johanna Konrad accepted a cross from Saber and fired a shot from the top right side of the box to the opposite corner.

· Hartford's overall scoring attempts (21) and shots on target (8) both represent season best numbers.
· The Hawks two goals represent the first multi-goal game of the season and the first since Oct. 31, 2013 against Vermont in the America East quarterfinals.
· Hartford finished with a 14 shot advantage against Wagner, its largest margin of the season in scoring opportunities.
· Hartford's eight shots on goal required Seahawks keeper Katie Marcy to make six saves.
