WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Sophomore Aaliyah Ingram recorded three points, including her first career goal which came as the game-winner in the 80th minute as the University of Hartford women's soccer team (4-1-3 overall) posted a 2-1 victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday.
Ingram's first points of the game came just after the halftime break as she assisted Chanel Johnson on the equalizing goal just 31 seconds after the opening whistle. She then provided the go ahead goal heading in a rebound off an initial attempt from defender Raelynn Mikell.
The assists for Ingram and Mikell represent the second of the season for both, while Johnson's goal extends her team-high to six goals. Sophomore keeper Jessica Jurg finished her second start of the season with four saves, she stands at 2-0 overall in her two appearances.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
· Sophomore forward Aaliyah Ingram scored her first career goal, while assisting on the Hawks equalizing goal, recording a game-high three points.
· Senior Chanel Johnson extended her team-best scoring numbers (six goals) when she scored the game-tying goal just seconds into the second half thanks to a pass from Ingram.
· Senior defender Raelynn Mikell recorded her second assist of the season when she assisted Ingram on the game-winning goal in the 80th minute. Her assist came as she attempted a header shot with Ingram heading in the rebound.
· Sophomore keeper Jessica Jurg made her second start of the season in goal, stopping four shots. She remains unbeaten in her two appearances with a victory over Iona the first of her two victories.
· The Hawks finished the game with a 13-10 shot advantage, the seventh, of eight, games the Hawks have outshot their opponent. Included for Hartford were eight shots on goal, which forced SHU keeper Talia Schwartz to make six stops.
GOALS RUNDOWN
· Sacred Heart scored the only first half goal, which came late in the 11th minute. Kristin Verrette scored her ninth goal of the season, firing a high shot over the outstretch Hawks keeper from just inside the 18-yard box. Alex Parlato provided the pass that led to Verrette's scoring shot.
· The Hawks scored the equalizing goal just 31 seconds into the second half with Aaliyah Ingram providing a pass for senior striker Chanel Johnson who netted her sixth goal of the season. Johnson let loose a shot from 20 yards out looking for the opposite side of the net with her shot over the Pioneers netminder.
· In the 80th minute, Ingram scored her first collegiate goal, breaking the 1-1 draw. The play began as a corner attempt with the initial volley finding Raelynn Mikell, whose header deflected off the crossbar. Ingram found the rebound and headed her first goal.

· The Hawks outshot their opponent for the seventh time, in eight games, in 2014 with a 13-10 advantage against Sacred Heart
