Hawks Alum Hampton Wins Hartford Marathon

University of Hartford alumnus and former cross country and track & field runner Jonas Hampton crossed the finish line first at the 2015 Hartford Marathon on Saturday, Oct. 10. Hampton finished in 2:15:57 to best his closest competition by two minutes.

It was the 26-year-old's first marathon, though he had already qualified for the Olympic marathon trials by way of a previous half-marathon time. The 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13, in Los Angeles, Calif.

In his time with the Hawks, he finished 13th in the 2010 America East Cross Country Championships as a senior, and placed 15th in the 3,000 meters and 12th in the 5,000 meters        at the 2011 America East Indoor Track & Field Championships. He also set a school record outdoors in his senior campaign in the 10,000 meters, posting a time of 31:45.65 at the Colonial Relays.
