Tori Tripp scored her fourth goal of the season, but a tally by Maine on a penalty kick added up to a 1-1 draw between the teams on Sunday afternoon. It marked the conference opener for both teams, who entered league play with the top two non-conference marks in the America East.
HOW IT HAPPENED:·        Tripp scored the opening goal of a tightly-fought contest at the 63:21 mark.
Aaliyah Ingram made a brilliant pass on a through ball to send Tripp all alone on the keeper, and Tripp deked right then sent a ball back to the left to put the Hawks ahead, 1-0.
·         The Hawks held a significant advantage in possession throughout the second half, but a foul ruled to have been committed inside the box at the 76:42 mark gave Maine the opportunity it needed. After the referee awarded the PK, Charlene Achille delivered a low shot to the bottom left corner for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
·         Hartford rebounded after the Black Bears' goal, putting significant pressure on Maine, but was unable to crack the scoreboard again. The Hawks had all four shots in regulation from the PK to the end of the second half, two by
Sidney Spremullo in the final two minutes.
·        Neither team was able to score in the overtime periods, though both had opportunities. The Hawks' best chance came from Tripp on a ball that missed just right, while Maine saw Achille put a shot on frame, but
Jessica Jurg came through with the save to clinch a point for her team.
·        The first half saw the two teams in an even battle, with Hartford outshooting Maine, 6-5, but Jurg making two saves to Claudia Dube-Trempe's one.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:·         Tripp's goal marked her fourth of the season and the fourth of her career. She scored twice in a 6-0 win over Iona this year and netted solo goals against Bryant as well as the Black Bears.
·        Â
Aaliyah Ingram led all players with six shots in the contest, playing all 110 minutes for the Hawks.
·         Jurg made four saves in total in the game, including a brilliant, leaping save on a lofting shot in the second half. Dube-Trempe turned aside three shots.
·        The Hawks outshot the Black Bears 17-14 in the game overall, including a 15-8 edge in regulation.
NEWS & NOTES:·         The Hawks are now 1-0-2 in overtime this season.
·         Hartford is now 17-7-6 against Maine in the all-time series between the conference foes. This marks the second-straight time they have finished in a tie.
·        Â
Aaliyah Ingram's assist marked her team-best third on the season and the fifth of her career.
