THE LEAD:

Jeff Tryon netted a pair of goals, including the game winner in the 108
th minute, to lead the University of Hartford men's soccer team (7-7-3, 2-1-2 America East) past Yale, 2-1, in double-overtime on Tuesday night. Tryon's first goal came on a penalty kick in the 25
th minute, following a handball in the box by the Bulldogs. Yale's Kyle Kenagy knotted it at 1-1 in the 70
th minute, setting up Tryon's overtime heroics.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tryon got the Hawks on the board in the 25th minute, choosing wisely and drilling a penalty kick low into the corner of the net, opposite a diving Andrew Bortley.
- Hartford keeper Jimmy Slayton helped preserve that lead in the 38th minute, rushing out to challenge a loose ball at the top of the box and making a diving save on the rebound.
- The Bulldogs broke through at 69:45 on a header by Kyle Kenagy. Lucas Kirby put a perfectly placed ball in the box and Kenagy lifted it high past Slayton for his second goal of the season.
- Tryon notched the golden goal late in the second overtime period off an assist from freshman midfielder Gael Kisombe. Kisombe threaded the ball through a pair of defenders and Tryon beat two more, streaking into the box before beating Bortley with his left foot to the far post.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hartford led in shots (9-6), corner kicks (6-5) and saves (4-3), but committed 16 fouls to Yale's seven.
- Slayton improved to 7-4-3 on the season. with 64 saves and a goals against average of 0.85.
- It marked Hartford's first multi-goal game since knocking off Central Connecticut, 2-0, on Sept. 27.
- Kisombe's assist was his second point of the season.
NEWS & NOTES:
- Kisombe and junior defender Andre Morrison each made their 17th start in 17 appearances this season.
- Morrison played his 17th complete game and leads the team with 1,590 minutes (out of 1,615). Kisombe (1,504) and freshman defender Mads Friis (1,445) are close behind, while no other Hawk has topped 1,375.
- Tryon has scored three goals in Hartford's past two games, becoming the first Hartford player to accomplish that feat since… He is the first Hawk to record a multi-goal game since Connor Yeaney scored twice in Hartford's 2-1 win against Binghamton on Nov. 12, 2014.
- Tryon leads the team with 12 points on the season and tied his career-high (set as a freshman, in 2013) with six goals on the season. He also matched Javoni Simms' team-best six goals from the 2015 season.
- With 20 career goals, Tryon is now tied for No. 10 on the Hawks' all-time list, even with Carlos Villa (2008-09) and one behind Dominic Willock (21; 1996-99).
- Hartford has won three of its past four matches and the Hawks won back-to-back games for the second time this season.
