THE LEAD:

The University of Hartford women's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw against visiting UAlbany on Sunday afternoon on a rain-soaked Al-Marzook Field. The Hawks, who led twice in the match behind goals from freshman striker
Bridgette Alexander and senior midfielder
Tori Tripp, settled for the tie and one point in conference play after the Great Danes battled back from each of their deficits with scores in the 58th and 76th minutes.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the 26th minute, Hartford took its first advantage thanks to a long blast off the boot of Alexander. Tripp got the offense going, chipping a pass from deep in the midfield straight down the middle. Alexander controlled the feed and chipped a high shot from 20-yards out over the outstretched arms of UAlbany keeper Chloe Borasky to put the Hawks in front by a 1-0 count.
- Freshman forward Kaila Lozada almost made it a 2-0 game before the break, but Borasky came up with the stop, her lone of the game, on the shot from point-blank range.
- The Great Danes drew even in the 58th minute on a goal from Vivian Vega. Just moments after the Hawks' defense prevented a Mariah Williams' shot from crossing the goal line on an empty net, Â Vega took a pass from Alexa Schneider and tapped in a shot to the near post to make it a 1-1 game.
- The match wouldn't be tied for long, though. Just 86 seconds after UAlbany drew even, Hartford used a set piece to regain the advantage in the 60th minute. Sophomore midfielder Julia Carr, who took the honors on a Hawks' corner kick at the 59:10 mark, placed a serve right into the six-yard box for Tripp, who easily put the lead back in the hands of the Hawks with a header.
- Down the stretch, the Great Danes erased their deficit again with less than 14 minutes remaining in regulation. Williams gathered a deflection on a botched Hartford clear attempt and lofted in the equalizer from the top of the box. UAlbany held a 3-1 edge in shots after the goal, but two of its attempts were booted away by Hawks' defenders to keep the game tied.
- The two overtime sessions played out scoreless, with the Great Danes outshooting the Hawks, 4-1, during that stretch. Hartford goalkeeper Jessica Jurg kept the game knotted up down the stretch with half (2) of her saves coming during the extra periods.
Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hartford held a 7-5 lead in corner kicks, but UAlbany delivered 13 shots to the Hawks' 11 in the contest.
- Jurg, who went the distance in the match, made a game-high four saves in the contest, including two during the overtime sessions.

- Eight field players never left the field, as Jurg, Madison Stabile, Stone, Hayley Nolan, Tripp, Skylar Vitiello, Katie Connolly, Alexander and Molly Socha went the full 110 minutes for the Hawks.
NEWS & NOTES:
- Sunday marked the first time Hartford faced overtime all season, while the Great Danes moved to 1-1-1 in games that require extra time.
- With her four saves, Jurg improved her career total to 2013 and needs four more to tie Ingrid Sternhoff (1997-99) for sixth place in the record books.
