SET-BY-SET:
  • Stony Brook got out to a quick start, opening a 12-6 lead following a Kardasia Hitchcock ace. Slowly but surely, the Hawks chipped away, and cut the lead to 15-14 following consecutive kills by Bridges and Modestow. But the Seawolves steadied, and delivered the next three points en route to a 25-18 victory and a 1-0 lead in the match.
  • SBU repeated its early lead in the second set, taking an 11-7 advantage. After the Hawks cut it to 12-10, Bridges went on a run at the serve, delivering four-straight aces to give Hartford a 14-12 edge. The teams traded points to 16-14, then a Modestow kill got the momentum back in the Hawks' favor. Another Modestow kill and an SBU attack error gave Hartford a 25-20 win and knotted things up at 1-1 heading into the break.
  • The Hawks got out to an early lead in the third set, 5-4, after a Stony Brook service error. But the Seawolves came roaring back with six-straight points to take a 10-5 lead. From there, Stony Brook slowly increased its lead, and was able to deliver a 25-17 victory.
  • In the fourth, Gels went on an early run on the serve to give the home squad a quick 8-2 lead. The Hawks were able to rally back with three straight to cut it to 8-5 with Modestow at the serve, but SBU rallied and distance itself from the Hawks on its way to a 25-12 win and a 3-1 victory in the match.
