SET-BY-SET:
- The two teams started out even out of the gate, with the Hawks holding a 5-4 lead on the strength of kills by Henchy and Olivia Rougeau. But Yale embarked on a 7-1 rally to pull ahead 11-6. Hartford was able to halt the run, but could get no closer than five the rest of the way as the Bulldogs garnered a 25-19 triumph.
- Hartford came out strong in the second, jumping out to a 4-2 lead on a pair of Henchy kills. After the teams traded points to a 5-4 score, the Hawks embarked on a 7-1 rally of their own, capped by back-to-back Bridges aces to make it 12-5. The Bulldogs slowly cut it to 14-9, then rolled off a 9-1 run to take an 18-15 lead. The visitors were able to keep the lead between two and three for much of the remainder of the set, but could get no closer in a 25-20 defeat.
- The third was a tremendously tight affair throughout, with the home squad holding a 6-5 lead after a Rougeau kill. Yale tallied four of the next five for a 10-6 lead, but the Hawks rebounded with Astrid Mangual at the serve, tying things up at 10-10 with the help of a pair of Modestow kills. After the teams traded points to a 13-12 Bulldogs edge, the Hawks delivered five of the next six for an 18-14 lead. But Yale was able to slowly chip away, finally taking the lead at 23-22 and holding on for the 25-22 victory.
