NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Hartford women's tennis team was delivered a pair of defeats in two locations on Saturday. After a morning loss to Army in West Point, the Hawks were toppled by Sacred Heart in New Haven in the afternoon.

The day's events were the latest in a busy weekend for Hartford. After a short turnaround from the previous night's matchup with UMBC, the Hawks trekked to West Point for an early morning clash with the Black Knights. Army garnered all six singles matches in straight sets. Skyler Schaar put up a strong fight at No. 1, falling to Genevieve McCormick 6-3, 6-4. In doubles play, the Black Knights won 6-2 at No. 1, 6-1 at No. 2 and 6-0 at No. 3.

Against Sacred Heart, the Pioneers earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, but the duo of Karolina Pilip and Emily Lindsley took a 6-4 victory at No. 3. SHU took all six singles matches in straight sets, though Schaar and Meredith Heitland each put up strong fights in 6-4 first-set defeats.

The busy weekend continues for the Hawks women, with a matchup against St. John's on Sunday back in West Point. The Hawks and Red Storm are slated for a 1 p.m. start.
