The University of Hartford men's lacrosse team had a tremendous game on both offense and defense, dropping Siena by a score of 15-4 on Saturday.
Griffin Feiner led all players with four goals, while
Justin Huggins added three.
Ryan Vanderford allowed just three goals against 12 saves to pick up the victory, while
Evan Quinn (6 saves, 0 goals allowed) and
Zack Jones (2, 1) played a strong fourth quarter in net.
The victory was Hartford's fourth-straight win, as the Hawks have not lost since March 26 and are 6-1 in their last seven.
Doug Biondi added three points on two goals and an assist, as nine different Hawks found the back of the net in the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks owned the first quarter, netting the first four goals of the game, beginning with Feiner's unassisted tally just 46 seconds into the game. Ty Schuldt, Huggins and Feiner each added tallies in the frame, as the Hawks outshot Siena 11-5.
- Hartford pushed the lead to 5-0 at the 2:49 mark of the second quarter, with Jaedon Henderson netting his 12th goal of the year.
- Siena got the next two tallies to make it 5-2, but Connor Van Duzer regained the momentum for the Hawks with a nice goal from Schuldt. Then, as the half came to a close, Vanderford made a brilliant save and Hartford took it all the way to the house, with Biondi finding the back of the net for a 7-2 lead entering the break.
- The Hawks wasted no time out of the locker room, as Huggins scored off a feed from Protesto just six seconds into the third quarter to make it 8-2.
- After Siena trimmed it to 8-3, the Hawks went on a run, netting the final five goals of the third. In that stretch, Feiner and Protesto netted tallies just five seconds apart, one second shy of the fastest two goals in Hawks history.
- In the final quarter, Dylan Jinks and Will Dulin pushed the lead to 15-3 before Siena notched the final tally to result in the final score.
