THE LEAD:
Paulina Modestow and 
Abby Nash delivered nine kills apiece, but an efficient UAlbany attack led the Great Danes past the Hartford volleyball team on Friday night. Akuabata Okenwa led all players with 11 kills in the win for the Great Danes.
 
Jenna Bridges led the Hawks with four aces and six blocks in a losing effort, while Nash and 
Montrashay Worley each delivered 12 digs. 
Megan Anderson doled out 34 assists.
 
Nicole Otero led all players with 21 digs for UAlbany, while Taylor Robinson added five blocks.
 
SET-BY-SET
• The first set was a tremendous battle between the squads, as the score was tied on 19 different occasions. Hartford gained the first momentum when a block and a kill by 
Jenna Bridges put the Hawks up 17-15. But UAlbany was able to swing the momentum back in its favor, and after a Bridges kill tied it at 24, the Great Danes were able to tally the next two points to take the set.
• The second was a tight battle in the early going, but the visitors were able to run off three-straight points to take a 12-7 lead and force a Hawks timeout. Hartford cut into the lead with a Modestow kill, and a Bridges ace later cut the deficit to 16-13. But UAlbany rolled off three-straight points and went on to a 25-17 victory.
• Hartford scored the first two points of the third, but UAlbany ran off seven straight in response. The Hawks were able to stem the tide at that point, with a Nash kill making it 10-6, but the Great Danes continued to rally, pushing the lead to 21-14. Bridges delivered a pair of aces to cut it back to 21-17, but UAlbany finished off the match.

The Hawks will return to the Hartford VB Gym on Sunday for a matchup against Binghamton at 1 p.m.
