THE LEAD:

The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting New Hampshire on Thursday night at the Hartford Volleyball Gym. Hannah Petke led the way for the Wildcats with 14 kills while Gabri Olhava also registered double-digit kills in the match, finishing with 10.
Hartford rookie
Abby Nash matched Petke for a match-high in kills, coming away with 14 for the Hawks in the losing effort. Sophomore
Jenna Bridges added nine kills and four blocks.
SET-BY-SET
- A pair of kills from Bridges and one from Astrid Mangual Duran fueled a 5-1 run that allowed Hartford to storm back from an early 6-2 deficit and tie things up at 7-7 in the opening set. But the Wildcats held off the Hawks' charge and used four-straight points to extend a slim, 14-13 edge to five. Despite another attempt at a comeback bid by Hartford, UNH rallied to take a 24-18 lead before a Hawks' attack error led to the 25-20 win for the Wildcats. Six of Petke's 14 kills came during that stretch.
- Both teams were on each other heels to open set two, as nine ties resulted in a 15-15 draw. UNH created some breathing room, using a 5-2 run to take a 20-17 advantage. Hartford managed to close the gap to 20-19, but the Wildcats ended the set strong, scoring five of the final six points to take the victory.
- Hartford jumped out to a quick lead in set three, building a three-point advantage at 11-8. The Hawks held on to that three-point edge, but UNH came back and delivered five-straight points to erase its 13-10 deficit and go up by a 15-13 count . Hartford was unable to bounce back from that run, as the Wildcats extended their lead to 20-15 and never looked back in the eventual 25-18 win.
