THE LEAD:
The Hartford softball team was stymied on the second day of the LMU/CSUN Tournament in greater Los Angeles, falling to North Dakota and No. 5 Arizona in shutout defeats. Each team collected a no-hitter in its victory.
GAME 1: NORTH DAKOTA 9, HARTFORD 0
Rachael Waynick and Taylor Nadler each hit home runs during an eight-run third for North Dakota and Hannah Bergh struck out five with just one walk allowed in posting a five-inning no-hitter.

Kylie Dazalla stole a base after reaching on an error and
Lexi Wilkerson drew a walk in the loss. Freshman
Isabella Gerone was carded with the loss.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:
• The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third, when Waynick and Nadler each delivered two-run longballs as part of an eight-run frame.
• North Dakota added a single tally on a run-scoring groundout in the bottom of the fourth.

GAME 2: NO. 5 ARIZONA 17, HARTFORD 0
Jessie Harper delivered two home runs and five RBI as No. 5 Arizona neutralized the Hawks in the second game of the day. Michelle Floyd struck out six in delivering a perfect game for the Wildcats, who plated 13 runs in the bottom of the first in the win.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:
• The Wildcats hit four home runs in the bottom of the first, two by Harper, scoring 13 on eight hits and two errors.
• Arizona added three runs in the bottom of the third, two on a Harper double.
• The Wildcats closed the scoring with a solo run in the bottom of the fourth, coming home on an RBI groundout.
