THE LEAD:
A wild comeback in game one gave the Hartford softball team a split with St. Peter's in the final two games of the Pirate Invite, hosted by Seton Hall.
GAME 1: HARTFORD 15, ST. PETER'S 9
The Hawks scored 10 runs after having nobody on and two out in the top of the seventh inning to stun St. Peter's with a 15-9 victory.
Eliza Bomhardt hit her first two career home runs in the win, while
Danielle DeMarco and
Bianca Ross each went deep as well for Hartford.

Kylie Dazalla had four hits for the Hawks, while DeMarco posted three and
Lexi Wilkerson,
Kristen DeCiantis,
Amber Mianti, Ross and Bomhardt delivered two apiece. Tiffany Lambert collected the loss for the Peacocks.

Wilkerson delivered the win for Hartford out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit and one unearned run in the three innings she tossed. Candice Koch hit a pinch-hit three-run home run in the loss for SPU.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:
• The Peacocks drew first blood with an RBI double in the bottom of the first to make it 1-0.
• Hartford got three back in the top of the second, two on Bomhardt's two-run blast to left field and one on Dazalla's RBI triple that scored Mianti.
• The Hawks pushed the lead to 5-1 on a Dazalla RBI single and an
Elizabeth Newkirk sac fly.
• SPU struck with seven in the bottom of the fourth, three on Koch's longball and two more on an Alina Guevara double, to take an 8-5 edge.
• Ross got the big inning going for the Hawks in the seventh, as her two-run shot cut it to 8-7.
• Three batters later, Bomhardt put an exclamation point on her huge day, drilling a three-run shot that put the Hawks up 10-8.
• Newkirk added a two-run double to plate Dazalla and Mianti to make it 12-8, then Wilkerson brought home Newkirk on an RBI single.
• DeMarco finished off the onslaught with a two-run shot, her first of the season, to take a 15-9 lead.
• St. Peter's added an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to result in the final score.

GAME 2: ST. PETER'S 10, HARTFORD 1
St. Peter's got a complete-game three-hitter from Sydney Ramsey to earn a split with the game-two victory. Brianna Hutchinson hit a three-run homer for the Peacocks, while Koch drove in two runs and Guevara had two hits.

Isabella Gerone was credited with the loss for the Hawks, while Wilkerson, Ross and
Meghan Wynn delivered a hit apiece.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:
• St. Peter's got on the board first with an error in the top of the opening frame.
• The Hawks responded quickly, getting Dazalla home on a DeMarco sac fly to make it 1-1.
• The Peacocks added four runs in the top of the third, three on Hutchinson's three-run homer, for a 5-1 lead.
• A two-run double by Koch and a run-scoring double by Crystal Carlucci pushed the advantage to 8-1.
• St. Peter's finished the scoring with two runs on three hits in the top of the seventh.

UP NEXT:
The Hawks have another weekend tournament on the slate, with a trip to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on the horizon. Hartford will play two games each against host Marist and Harvard over the three days.
