Men's Soccer Falls to Stony Brook on Senior Night

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford men's soccer team never recovered from two quick Stony Brook goals, as the Hawks dropped a 6-0 decision to visiting Stony Brook on Senior Night. Prior to the start of the match, the Hawks honored Bamidele Adu, Michael Dunn, Fredrik Ekman, Ramon Evans and Xahne Reid, who each played their final regular-season home match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A redirected shot by a Hartford defender put Stony Brook up in the 10th minute, before Serge Gamwanya, who finished with a game-high three points, doubled the lead in the 14th minute on a direct kick. 
  • The Seawolves scored three more times in the first stanza to take a five-goal lead into the halftime break.
  • Hartford turned around to outshoot the Seawolves, 4-3, in the second half and nearly missed finding the back of the net on a header by Aitor Elena out of a corner kick.
  • Stony Brook tacked on one more goal in the closing minute, finishing off the scoring on a strike by Matias Prando.
