Jason Dunne each scored 16 points, but a hot-shooting night by Utah State led the Aggies to a 100-73 win in the first of four games associated with the MGM Resorts Main Event Tournament on Friday evening.
Tauriawn Knight and Dwayne Brown Jr. each scored a game-high 24 points to pace the Aggies, who shot 56 percent in the win. Utah State improves to 2-0, while Hartford dips to 0-2.

Travis Weatherington each knocking down threes to make it a 9-0 lead less than two minutes in. But a layup by Quinn Taylor sparked a 13-1 run that would put the Aggies out in front for the remainder of the night. Hartford remained within striking distance until Utah State ignited for 13-unanswered points before taking control of the game to the tune of a 51-27 lead at halftime.
The Hawks were unable to cut into the deficit in the second half, as Utah State closed out the win. The Aggies did most of their damage inside the paint, tallying 64 points around the rim, including 16 off second chances.

- The meeting was the first between Hartford and Utah State.
- Hartford converted on 80.0 from the free-throw line (16-of-20), but was limited to just 37.5 percent shooting (24-of-64) from the field.
- Carroll recorded his 14th-straight game in double figures, a streak that dates back to last season.
- Graduate transfer Eddie Davis III provided solid minutes down the stretch, recording his first career points in a Hartford uniform with a pair of three-pointers.
- Freshman Hunter Marks went 3-of-4 from the line for his first collegiate points.
- The defeat snapped Hartford's six-game winning streak in regular-season road games.
