Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
- Redshirt junior Jake Regula and Oregon State's Luke Heimlich were engaged in a pitcher's duel early until the Beavers broke through in the bottom of the fourth.
- Adley Rutschman recorded a two-out single in the fourth to set up Tyler Malone, who drove Rutschman on an RBI single up the middle, giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead. Â Â
- The Hartford found its offensive groove in the sixth inning, as the Hawks loaded the bases off a pair of singles from freshman John Thrasher and senior TJ Ward, along with a junior Ashton Barzell walk. Junior Chris Sullivan drove Thrasher in off a fielder choice to tie the game up at one before a Zachary Ardito double up the middle scored Ward, giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead.
- A pair of walks in the bottom of the seventh set Rutschman up for a two-out RBI double, putting the Beavers back on top, 3-2.
- The Hawks opened the eighth and ninth innings up with lead-off singles, but were unable to capitalize, sealing the 3-2 decision for Oregon State.
