THE LEAD:
 
An RBI triple from junior Ashton Bardzell lifted the University of Hartford baseball team past Yale, 5-3, in West Haven on Wednesday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Hawks opened up the scoring in the second after sophomore Jackson Olson singled to left, freshman John Thrasher drove him in with a Sacrifice Fly to center to put the Hawks up 1-0.
• The Bulldogs answered in the bottom half of the frame, scoring off an RBI single to left to draw the game even at one.
•  The Hawks bats got hot in the second, as sophomore Bryce Walker ripped a leadoff single to center. Junior Chris Sullivan followed suit, singling to left before senior TJ Ward continued with a single to left to drive Walker in. Olson laced the fourth single of the inning to right field to load the bases for sophomore Zachary Ardito who also singled to give Sullivan in to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead.
• The Bulldogs answered with two runs off three hits in the fifth to tie the game back up at three.
• Walker had hit by a pitch to lead off the seventh and Bardzell quickly drove him in, lacing a triple to right center and later scoring off a walk to sophomore Robert Carmody to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead.

The Hawks will continue its Nutmeg State road trip with a stop in Storrs for a 3 p.m. tilt against UConn tomorrow afternoon.
