THE LEAD:
 The University of Hartford softball team fell to UAlbany, 11-0, on Friday afternoon in West Hartford.
   
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A leadoff triple from McKenzie Bump set UAlbany up for three RBI singles as the Great Danes racked up nine hits in the first inning to jump out to an early six-run lead.
  • The Hawks threatened in the bottom half of the first as singles from freshman Nicolette Barranger, freshman Danielle Rocheleau and senior Elizabeth Newkirk load the bases, but the Hawks could not capitalize on the opportunity.
  •  A pair of home runs from Kelly Barkevich, a three-run shot in the second followed by a solo shot in the fourth, along with a Great Dane two-run double in the fifth gave UAlbany the 11-0 decision.

The Hawks and Great Danes will wrap up their #AESB weekend series with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
