THE LEAD:
Â
A late rally led UMass Lowell past the visiting University of Hartford men's lacrosse team, 12-10, at Cushing Field on Saturday night. The Hawks held a 9-6 lead late in the third, but the River Hawks rallied for six unanswered scores to steal the win.
Â
Senior

Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
- Two big runs by each team resulted in an even game until the final seconds of the first half, when Davison beat the buzzer and gave Hartford a 7-6 edge at the break.
- The Hawks had a hot start to the game, scoring each of the first five goals to take a commanding advantage with 2:10 to go in the opening quarter. Feiner helped fuel that run with a pair of scores during that stretch.
- Getting on the board for the first time with 30 seconds left in the first, UMass Lowell mounted a furious comeback in the second and knotted up the game with a 5-1 run. Sean Tyrrell delivered the game-tying strike with 4:24 left in the half.
- Hartford added to its one-goal halftime lead in what proved to be a quiet third quarter, as senior Trevor O'Brien and Huggins struck at the 7:40 and 3:11 marks to make it a 9-6 advantage.
- But the River Hawks embarked on another big run, scoring six unanswered to erase their deficit and go up by three at 12-9. Five different players contributed to that run, including Jon Phillips, whose second goal of the rally put his team in front for the first time at 10-9 with 10:17 left in the quarter.
- Jinks managed to cut the deficit to two on a man-up goal in the final seconds, but the Hawks wouldn't come any closer.
