HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Minutemen were the first on the board, scoring a pair off one hit and two Hawk errors in the second inning.
- UMass added to their lead in the third inning, working three walks to load the bases before Marcus Fry ripped a two-run single to left field, putting the Minutemen up 4-0.
- Similar to the third, the Minutemen packed the bases setting up Fry once again, who blasted a grand slam, extending 8-0
- Junior Drew Holtgrieve and sophomore Bryce Walker both worked walks in the fifth inning, which Bardzell capitalized on, sending a three-run shot to the right-field seats to cut the UMass lead to 8-3.
- The Minutemen put runners on first and second with one out in the ninth, which a two-run single to center and an RBI single to left extended their lead to, 11-3.
- The Hawks remained resilient, loading the bases with one out. Junior Chris Sullivan reached on a fielder choice, driving in senior Nick Campana to cut the UMass lead to 11-4. The Minutemen kept the Hawks comeback bid at bay, taking the 11-4 decision.
INSIDE THE NUMBER
- Campana extended his hitting streak to 18 games with his single in the seventh inning.
