WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Hartford women's soccer played to its first draw on Sunday, as the Hawks tied visiting Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-1, in its non-conference finale on Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium. The Hawks move to 7-1-1 on the season, while the Knights shift to 2-6-2 overall.
HARTFORD 1, FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON 1 (2ot)
- Senior forward Ashley Claud put the Hawks on the board after putting the finishing touches on a pass from junior midfielder Sierra Stone in the 76th minute. The marker improved her total to four this season.
- The Knights tied the match back up less than five minutes later, though, when Stasi Torchia found the back of the net in the 80th minute.
- In the final minute, Claud had a chance at the go-ahead tally, but her attempt went right at FDU goalkeeper Amanda Fitzgerald who was in place to make her fifth save of the match.
- Hartford, which had the better of play in the first overtime session, was unable to capitalize on a pair of early opportunities by junior forward Kaila Lozada. Neither team would get a shot off in the second overtime, as the match ended in a draw.
- Fitzgerald finished with six saves for the Knights, while sophomore Maia Perez registered three stops for the Hawks, who held a 13-8 advantage in shots.
HARTFORD NOTES
- Entering the match riding a six-game winning streak, Hartford extends its unbeaten streak to seven after Sunday's decision. .
- The Hawks' 7-1-1 start marks the program's best since 2011, when Hartford went 7-0-2 to open the season.
