VESTAL, N.Y. — The Hartford men's soccer team came up short in its America East opener, as the Hawks dropped a 2-0 decision to Binghamton at the Bearcats Sports Complex on Saturday night. Binghamton improves to 2-5-2 and 1-0 in the America East, while Hartford dips to 0-6-3 with an 0-1 record in conference play.
BINGHAMTON 2, HARTFORD 0
- Kevin Flesch scored not long out of the opening whistle to give Binghamton a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute.
- The Bearcats doubled their advantage in the 61st minute when Jack Muller scored on a header off a long cross.
- The Hawks applied the pressure down the stretch, outshooting the Bearcats by a 5-1 margin in the final 30 minutes, but they were unable to cut into their deficit down the stretch.
- Hartford, which was led by three shots from senior Xahne Reid, held a commanding 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
