Box Score WEST HARTFORD, Conn. –In the battle of the top two teams in the America East, Hartford scored its first win over Maine since 2015 with the 49-46 victory Wednesday evening at Reich Family Pavilion.

Lindsey Abed scored a game-high 16 points, as the Hawks improve to 11-7 on the year and 4-0 in the America East. Sophomore Dor Saar finished with a team-high 13 points, as the Black Bears fall to 11-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
HARTFORD 49 MAINE 46
After a back-and-forth start to the game, Hartford pushed ahead midway through the opening quarter, finishing the period off on a 9-2 run. In the second quarter, the Hawks held Maine to six points and pushed their lead all the way to 11, capped off by a quick layup from sophomore
Jade Young with 30 seconds remaining in the period, making the halftime score 28-17. Hartford took advantage of its pressure, scoring 14 points off 11 Black Bears' turnovers.
Maine took the momentum back in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 22-12 in the period moving to within one heading into the final quarter at 40-39. The Black Bears climbed ahead by three with 2:45 remaining in the game after red-shirt senior Tanesha Sutton made one-of-two from the free throw line, for the 46-43 lead. Hartford, however, scored the final six points of the game, including a great pass from freshman
Jabria Ingram too Young for the eventual game-winning basket, giving the Hawk's senior class its first victory over Maine, 49-46.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Tonight's victory over Maine snaps a seven-game losing streak to the Black Bears, and is the first regular season win against Maine since December 11, 2013
- Hartford pushes its winning streak to six games for its longest rally since the 2011-12 season, when the Hawks won eight straight games.
- Graduate student Ella Awobajo registered her fifth double-figure scoring effort in her last seven games with 13 points and five rebounds.
- At 4-0, Hartford is off to its best start in conference play since the 2009-10 Hawks rattled off 16 straight America East wins to go undefeated in America East play.
