OGDEN, Utah — Freshman Manuel Romero from the Hartford men's golf team was named the Big Sky Golfer of the Week, the organization announced on Thursday. 
 
Romero put together a career-best performance this past weekend at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Intercollegiate. The Doral, Fla., native posted his first top-10 finish as a collegian, tying for ninth place.
 
For the first time in his career, Romero turned in three par-or-better rounds, carding rounds of 69-70-69 on the par-71 course to finish with a career-low 54-hole total of 209 (-4). The 69s in the first and third rounds matched career-best rounds for the rookie. 
 
The Golfer of the Week honor is the first for Romero, and the first for a Hartford golfer this season.
 
Romero and the Hawks conclude their 2019 fall slate with the Innisbrook Invitational. Held at Innisbrook Resort Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Fla., the two-day event begins on Monday, Oct. 28.
