Jenna Bridges delivered a game-high 25 kills while
Megan Anderson tallied 56 assists, as women's volleyball fell to UAlbany 3-2 in the America East Championship finals. With the loss, the Hawks close the season at 16-13, while UAlbany improves to 16-10 and secures a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
UALBANY 3, HARTFORD 2 (16-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-25, 12-15)
SET ONE: The Great Danes jumped out to a 16-6 lead and pushed its lead to 24-10. Trailing 24-10, the Hawks went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 24-16, but the Great Danes held on for the 25-16 set win.
SET TWO: Hartford jumped out to a 6-1 lead with a combined five kills coming from
Abby Nash and
Jenna Bridges. After UAlbany tied the set at 19-19, the Hawks closed the set with a 6-2 run, capped by a Bridges kill to take the second set 25-21.
SET THREE: Tied at 13-13 in the set, the Hawks went on an 8-2 run to build its lead to 21-15 in the set. The Great Danes cut it to as close as 23-19, but back-to-back kills from
Megan Anderson and Nash secured the set win for the Hawks.
SET FOUR: With Hartford leading 11-9 in the set, UAlbany went on a 8-0 run to take a 17-11 lead in the set, before a Bridges kill stopped the run. The Great Danes closed the set with an 8-3 run to secure the set win.
SET FIVE: After Hartford jumped out to a 3-1 lead, UAlbany went on an 8-0 run to take a commanding 9-3 lead. The Hawks fought back, cutting the deficit to as low as 14-12, however, a Hartford attack error allowed the Great Danes to secure the America East Championship victory.
