EAST LANSING, Mi. — Jada Lucas and Jordan McLemore combined to score 17 points as the Hartford women's basketball team fell to No. 15 Michigan State on the road at the Breslin Center, 79-34, on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks fell to 0-6 on the year, while the Spartans improved to 5-0.

The two sides exchanged leads to an 8-8 tie with 3:51 remaining in the first quarter, before the Spartans closed the quarter with an 11-0 run to take a 19-8 lead into the second quarter. After falling behind 27-12, the Hawks outscored the Spartans 9-6 to trim the deficit to 33-21 with 2:01 left in the first half. However, Michigan State closed the half with a 9-0 run to take a 42-21 lead into the break.
 
The Spartans opened the second half with an 18-5 run to take a commanding 60-26 lead with 1:50 remaining in the third quarter. The deficit proved to be too much for the Hawks, as they eventually fell, 79-34.
