WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Sophomore
Charlette Leurs totaled a career-high 12 points, as the Hartford women's basketball team fell to Central Connecticut on the home, 59-54, at Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks fell to 0-12 on the year, while the Blue Devils improved to 1-10.

After Hartford jumped out to a 4-1 lead, CCSU responded with a 15-2 run to take a 16-6 lead late in the first quarter and carried an 18-10 lead into the second. After falling behind 20-10, the Hawks went on an 11-4 run to cut the deficit to 24-21 with 4:43 to go before the break. After the Blue Devils increased its lead to 29-21 with 2:40 remaining in the quarter, the Hawks closed the half with a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to 32-30 at the break.
After CCSU used the opening three minutes of the half to build its lead to 38-30, the Hawks responded by closing the quarter with a 15-3 run to take a 45-41 lead into the fourth quarter. The Blue Devils battled back in the fourth, using a 10-5 run to take a 51-50 lead over the Hawks with 2:44 left in regulation. Hartford had chances on offense, but CCSU held the Hawks to four points over the final 3:30 of the contest to hold on for the 61-54 win over Hartford.
