WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Freshman
Moses Flowers poured in a game-high 28 points — including 14 in the final two minutes of the game — but it wasn't enough for the Hartford men's basketball team, as the Hawks dropped an 84-78 decision to visiting St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday.

The Hawks came out of the gates firing, making four of their first five field goal attempts to take a 12-5 advantage with 15:29 left. Back-to-back buckets by graduate student
Traci Carter and Flowers helped the Hawks push that lead into double figures (26-16) with 7:10 left. Hartford led by as many as 13 in the stanza, but a half-ending 7-2 run by the Terriers closed the gap to single digits at 36-28 at the break
Momentum continued to favor St. Francis after halftime, as a 7-0 run to start the stanza pulled the visitors within one point (36-35) just over two minutes in. With 12:03 remaining, a three-point play by Stevan Krtinic gave the Terriers their first lead of the game, which expanded to eight points with 6:54 left. Down the stretch, Flowers went on a tear and made it a three-point game with 34 seconds left on a three-pointer, but St. Francis held off the potential comeback from the free-throw line.
