WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Junior
Jada Lucas scored a game-high 20 points, as the Hartford women's basketball team fell to visiting NJIT, 61-52, at Reich Family Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks fell to 0-9 on the year, while the Highlanders improved to 3-6.

The Hawks used the opening 2:15 of the contest to go on a 7-0 run, however, the Highlanders outscored the Hawks 13-8 the rest of the quarter to cut the Hartford lead to 15-13 heading into the second quarter. Trailing 19-15 in the second quarter, the Highlanders went on a 10-4 run to take a 25-23 lead with 3:14 to go before halftime. Hartford closed the half with a 7-2 run to take a 30-27 lead into the half.
NJIT opened the half with a 16-1 run to take a 43-31 lead over Hartford with 3:07 left in the third quarter, before the Hawks outscored the Highlanders 4-1 the rest of the quarter to cut the deficit to 44-35 heading into the fourth. After falling behind 46-35, the Hawks went on an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to 49-46 with 4:43 to go. However, the Highlanders held the Hawks to six points the rest of the way and held on for the 61-52 win over Hartford.
