BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. –Hartford dropped its first two games of the season to Oakland, 7-4, and Sacred Heart, 10-3, on day one of the Runnin' Bulldog Tournament hosted by Gardner-Webb.
Sophomore
Danielle Rocheleau finished with four hits, two doubles and two RBI, as the Hawks opened the season 0-2.
OAKLAND 7 HARTFORD 4
After Oakland took a one run lead in the top of the first, Hartford tied the game in the bottom of the second after a wild pitch brought freshman
Paige Fedak around to score. The Golden Grizzlies however scored six unanswered runs before the Hawks mounted a rally in the bottom of the sixth. Fedak singled down the left field to plate Rocheleau followed by an RBI ground-out by freshman
Julianna Kocenski. Hartford, however, would only manage one more run, falling in the season opener, 7-4, to Oakland.
SACRED HEART 10 HARTFORD 3
In game two, Sacred Heart jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Hawks got two back in top of the third starting with a sacrifice fly from Rocheleau. Fedak then stepped in with the bases loaded earning a walk to score the second. The Pioneers, however, would outscore the Hawks 7-1 the rest of the way, earning their first win of the season, 10-3.

- Fedak started her Hartford career strong, finishing the day with two doubles, a triple and two RBI
- Kocenski (0-1) started game one, allowing seven earned runs on 14 hits and striking out one
- Junior Isabella Gerone (0-1) got the ball in game two, allowing 10 earned runs on 14 hits and striking out one
- Sophomore Nicolette Barranger finished the day with a run scored and three hits, including two triples against Sacred Heart
