Hawks Drop Final Game of Weekend Trip to Bison

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Hartford baseball dropped its final game of the weekend, 9-8, Lipscomb Sunday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Drew DeMartino had a team-high three RBI, as the Hawks fell to 0-8 on the year. Senior Cade Sorrells went 1-3 with three RBI, as the Bison improves to 7-6 on the season.

Down 2-0 after three innings, Hartford stormed back for four runs in the fourth anf three more in the fifth. DeMartino highlighted the rally with a three-run home run in the fifth bringing in junior Nik Pagan and senior Ashton Bardzell and making the score 5-2.
 
Lipscomb responded with a run in the fifth followed by six more in the sixth to make the score 9-6. The Hawks attempted to rally once again in the seventh as sophomore John Thrasher reached on a fielding by the second basemen, scoring junior Jackson Olson. Junior Zachary Ardito came up next and grounded into a double play, scoring freshman Donnie Cohoon.
 
NEWS AND NOTES
  • Hartford used six pitchers in the loss. The group combined to allow 11 hits and strikeout four
  • DeMartino's home run was the second of his career and it was the second of the season for the Hawks 
  • Hartford scored a season-high eight runs and walked 11 times
  • With two more hits, senior Drew Holtgrieve now has a batting average of .300, which is 10th in the conference
