WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – For the second consecutive season, No. 2 Hartford women's hoops is headed to the America East Championship after coming from behind to top No. 3 Stony Brook, 64-59, Sunday afternoon.

Sierra DaCosta scored a game-high 22 points, as the Hawks improve to 23-9 overall. Sophomore India Pagan finished with a team-high 16 points, as the Seawolves finish the season 23-8.
HARTFORD 64 STONY BROOK 59
Stony Brook controlled the game in the early going, running out to a five point lead (12-7) as redshirt sophomore Oksana Provencher knocked down two at the line with 2:57 reaming in the first quarter. The Seawolves tacked on to their lead in the second quarter, pushing it to eight points twice. After the Hawks closed within three on a lay up by Sophomore
Jade Young with just under three minutes remaining in the period, Stony Brook scored the final four points of the half to take a 26-19 lead into the locker room.
Hartford came out strong in the third quarter, and took its first lead since the first quarter on a lay up by senior
Lindsey Abed with 1:48 remaining in the period. The Hawks took their one-point lead (40-39) into the final quarter, where there were three lead changes in the fourth period alone. With the Seawolves holding a two- point lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the game, graduate student
Ella Awobajo hit a three-pointer giving Hartford the 48-47 lead. The Hawks never looked back from that point forward, keeping Stony Brook at arms length and punching its ticket the America East Championship, 64-59.
NEWS AND NOTES
- It is Hartford's second-straight and 11th trip overall to the America East Championship where the Hawks hold a 5-5 record. The team's most recent win was in 2011 when Hartford topped Boston University, 65-53
- With her 22-point effort this afternoon, DaCosta has now scored in double-figures in nine straight games. It is the fourth time this season she has scored twenty or more points
- For the fifth consecutive game, Hartford scored 20 or more points off of turnovers, finishing the game with 23 points off of 22 Stony Brook turnovers
- Young finished with her fourth double-double of the season, and her third in the last six games, scoring 11 points and adding 11 rebounds
