A 12-3 run broke open a one-point game and gave UAlbany a double-digit lead (26-15) midway through the opening stanza. The Great Danes continued to rally, pulling ahead by 22 points on a 17-2 run, but the Hawks managed to cut the deficit down to 16 at 45-29 before the break on a
Max Twyman three and a three-point play by
Jason Dunne.
Hartford's run extended into the second, as the Hawks scored the first 10 points of the half to quickly trim the deficit down to six at 45-39 less than two minutes in. Remaining within striking distance, Blagojevic pulled the Hawks within two before
John Carroll completed the comeback, tying up the game at 66-all with 3:57 left.
UAlbany, which finished regulation 1-for-7 from the field, would reclaim the lead on an Adam Lulka bucket. Neither team would score for the next two-plus minutes, until a Dunne layup with 1:15 to go tied up the game again. The Great Danes came up empty-handed after two chances at the go-ahead bucket, and in the final moments, Dunne's three at the buzzer from beyond NBA range bounced off the rim twice to force overtime.
