Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Short at UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Hartford men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-10 decision to defending league champion UAlbany at Tom and Mary Casey Stadium on Saturday. Junior Owen Trepeta and sophomore Christian Paley each netted hat tricks for the Hawks (1-9, 1-2 AE), who were tied with the Great Danes with 14:26 left in the third.
 
Tehoka Nanticoke scored a game-high five goals for the Great Danes, who improve to 4-5 and 3-0 in America East action.

After spotting UAlbany three scores to open the game, Hartford netted the next three on a pair of goals from Paley and one from Ty Thompson to draw even with 13 seconds left in the opening quarter. The Great Danes would push back ahead, taking a 5-3 advantage with 10:41 to go in the half, but the Hawks pulled within one at the break before Paley made it a new game 34 seconds into the third quarter with his third of the afternoon.
 
Three straight goals would put UAlbany in front for good. The Hawks pulled within two three times, but the Great Danes ended the game by scoring three of the final four goals to come away with the win.

  • Paley, who netted his first career hat trick, added a career-high two caused turnovers for the Hawks
  • Thompson joined Paley and Trepeta with multiple goals, adding a pair of assists to pace Hartford with four points
  • Freshman goalie Cam Logan made 12 saves for the Hawks in the defeat, while Nate Siekierski registered 10 for UAlbany

The Hawks return home to host UMass Lowell on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. The league tilt is part of a lacrosse doubleheader on Al-Marzook Field, as the Hartford women's team will take on UMBC at 11 a.m.
