HARTFORD, Conn. –Hartford baseball closed within two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but could not come all the way back as Rhode Island took the midweek match up, 10-7, Wednesday night.

Ashton Bardzell hit a grand slam in the seventh inning,as the Hawks fall to 12-20 overall. Kevin Heiss finished with a team-high three RBI, as the Rams improve to 17-18 on the year.

With Rhode Island holding a six run lead midway through the seventh, Hartford closed within two with one swing of the bat. Bardzell stepped into the batter's box and cranked the 1-2 pitch of the right field wall for his fifth home run of the year, making the score 8-6.
However, that is as close as the Hawks would get, as the Rams tacked on two more, taking Hartford's first game of the season at Dunkin' Donuts Park, 10-7.
