WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford softball team dropped a doubleheader to visiting UConn on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies scored an 11-0 decision in game one before taking the nightcap by a 17-1 decision.

GAME ONE: UCONN 11, HARTFORD 0 (5)
Briana Marcelino went 3-for-3 and drove in three, while Marybeth Olson threw seven innings of no-hit softball to lead the Huskies to the win in game one. UConn broke open a scoreless game in the top of the third, with Reese Gueverra and Marcelino each collecting RBI to put their team in front. UConn added three more runs to its lead in the top of the fourth before putting the game out of reach in the next frame with six runs.
GAME TWO: UCONN 17, HARTFORD 1 (5)
Behind a first-inning grand slam by Kiwi McDaniel, the Huskies jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game two and never looked back. UConn pushed the lead to 11-0 before the Hawks reached the scoreboard on a bases-loaded RBI single by
Emma Curry that plated
Lily Sencer, who reached on an infield single. The Huskies sealed the win in the final two frames, though, combining for six runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Sophomore
Danielle Rocheleau went 2-for-3 with a double to pace the Hawks.
NEXT ON TAP
The Hawks return to action with a midweek doubleheader at Marist on Wednesday. The doubleheader is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
