Softball Scores Key Series Win against Bearcats

 
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. –Hartford softball earned the series victory against Binghamton, taking game three, 9-2, in America East action. Sunday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Danielle Rocheleau and freshman Julianna Kocesnki each finished with two RBI, as the Hawks improve to 18-24 overall and 5-9 in the America East. Sara Herskowitz registered a team-high two RBI, as the Bearcats fall to 15-24 on the season and 4-10 in the conference.
 
HARTFORD 9 BINGHAMTON 2
After Binghamton took an early 1-0 lead, Hartford exploded for five runs in the third inning. Junior Amber Mianti scored the Hawks' first run of the game, taking advantage of an error by the first basemen to come around and score. Rocheleau then pushed Hartford's lead to two (3-1), lacing a double to right center, scoring sophomore Nicolette Barranger and sophomore Lily Sencer. Freshman Haley Cassidy and senior Kylie Dazalla wrapped up the scoring in the inning, hitting RBI doubles to give the Hawks the 5-1 lead.
 
Hartford continued to control the game, outscoring the Bearcats 4-1 the rest of the way for its second conference series win of the season, 9-2.

NEWS AND NOTES
  • Freshman Julianna Kocenski (12-13) hurled her 15th complete game of the season, scattering six hits over seven innings, allowing one earned runs with three strikeouts
  • Rocheleau continues to creep closer to 100 career-hits, pushing her career total to 98 on the day
  • Hartford now has 18 wins on the season for its largest win total since 2013 (21)
