Softball Drops Two to the Great Danes

ALBANY, N.Y. –Hartford softball fell twice to UAlbany, 6-3 and 8-2, in America East action Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Paige Fedak hit her second home run of the season, as the Hawks fall to 12-17 overall and 1-4 in the America East. Junior Shaye Swiatek hit her first career home run, as the Great Danes improve to 13-9 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

GAME ONE: UALBANY 6 HARTFORD 3
After neither team could find a run through the first three innings, Hartford jumped on the board as Fedak blasted a two-run home run, plating sophomore Danielle Rocheleau and giving the Hawks the 2-0 lead.

After the Great Danes answered with five runs in the fourth and another in the fifth, Hartford attempted to mount a rally. Senior Kylie Dazalla stepped into the box and knocked a double to left center field, bringing Fedak all the way around from first to score and cut UAlbany's lead to three  (6-3).

Hartford would bring the tying run to the plate with one out in the seventh, but were unable to capitalize as the Great Danes took game one, 6-3.

GAME TWO: UALBANY 8 HARTFORD 2
Hartford once again took the lead first in game two, as freshman Emma Curry slapped a single to left field in the first inning, scoring sophomore Nicolette Barranger and giving the Hawks the early 1-0 advantage.

UAlbany, however, went on to score eight unanswered runs heading into the final frame. Hartford snagged one run back in the seventh, as sophomore Lily Sencer reached on an error by the second baseman, which also scored junior Amber Mianti from third. That one be the final run of the game, as the Great Danes closed out game two, taking the 8-2 win.
