Baseball Tops Blue Devils at Dunkin' Donuts Park

HARTFORD, Conn. –Hartford baseball won its third-straight game, topping Central Connecticut 7-2, Tuesday morning at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
 
Senior Chris Sullivan hit his third home run of the season,as the Hawks improve to 17-28 overall. Sophomore TT Bowens went 3-5 with an RBI and a run scored,as the Blue Devils fall to 21-19. 
 
HARTFORD 7 CENTRAL CONNECTICUT 3    
Sophomore Drew DeMartino got the scoring started in the bottom of the second for Hartford, grounding out to the shortstop, but plating junior Zachary Ardito from third for the early 1-0 lead.
 
After Central Connecticut took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third, Hartford answered in the bottom of the fifth, taking advantage of two errors by the Blue Devils to score three runs for the 4-2 lead.
 
The Hawks pushed its lead to 5-2 in the sixth and then put an exclamation point on the win in the seventh inning as Sullivan stepped in and crushed a home run over the right field fence to push Hartford's advantage to 7-2.
 
The Blue Devils scored one more run in the eighth, but that was all they could muster as the Hawks finished off the victory, 7-3.
 
NEWS AND NOTES
  • Redshirt-sophomore Alex Moconyi (2-1) earned the win, pitching a perfect inning in relief
  • Sullivan finished the day with three RBI, pushing his team-leading total to 37
  • Starting pitcher junior James Judenis tallied three strikeouts, giving him 32 on the season which is third on the team
  • Today's home run was the second-consecutive game the Hawks recorded a home run at Dunkin' Donuts Park
