HANOVER, N.H. — The Hartford volleyball team had its four-match winning streak snapped on Friday, as Fordham took the opening contest of the Dartmouth Invitational by a 3-0 final. The Hawks dip to 4-3 on the season while the Rams move to 5-2 overall.
Reigning America East Rookie of the Week
Maddie Lindsay led the way with 10 kills and 12 for a double-double, while
Megan Anderson, the reigning Setter of the Week, also notched a double-double on 27 assists and 10 digs.
HARTFORD, FORDHAM (25-23, 25-14, 25-20)
- SET ONE: Trailing early in the set, Hartford stormed back to take an 11-6 lead, but the Rams took advantage of timely rallies to win the set. The Hawks pulled within one after trailing, 21-18, but three straight points gave Fordham set point. Hartford clawed back to again pull within one, but the Rams stopped the rally with a kill.
- SET TWO:After Fordham took an early lead to start, the Hawks closed the gap to 6-5, but would not come any closer. Pushing ahead by an 18-9 count, Fordham cruised to the 25-14 victory.
- SET THREE: The Hawks capitalized on a plethora of Fordham errors, using five Rams' miscues to fuel a 7-0 run that erases a 16-11. But the Rams came back strong, recording nine of the final 11 points to take the victory.
- HARTFORD NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS:Senior Jenna Bridges and junior Abby Nash added nine kills apiece … Lindsay's double-double was the fourth of her career, and her second in as many matches … Anderson recorded her third double-double of the year.
NEXT ON TAP
The Hawks have two on the docket for Saturday, as they take on Dartmouth at 12:30 p.m., before concluding the Dartmouth Invitational against Hofstra at 4:30 p.m.
