Elias Gross tied for seventh place to lead the Hartford men's golf team at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate at Hop Meadow Country Club. The Hawks finished in eighth place among the 17-team field in their 2019 season opener.

TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
- Opening the tournament with an even-par 72 on Saturday, Gross finished in a five-way tie for seventh place, carding a 145 (72-73; +1) on the weekend
- Gross finished six strokes off tournament champion Adam Xiao from Harvard, who finished with a 5-under 139
- Competing as an individual, freshman Manuel Romero was Hartford's second finisher, carding a 148 (75-73; +4)
- Also competing as individuals, classmate Alex Buchanan (73-76, +5) and junior Jared Winiarz each tied for 25th with two-round scores of 149
- Junior Eric Evans was Hartford's second finisher, as he tied for 32nd with a 150 (77-73; +6)
- The Hawks finished 23 strokes behind team champion Harvard, which combined to finish seven strokes under par with a 569

Hartford returns to action with the Hartford Hawks Invitational. Held at Bulls Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn., the two-day event tees off on Monday, Sept. 16.
