After a back-and-forth start to the game, Hartford ended the opening stanza with 17-6 run to take a 36-25 lead into the break. Freshman PJ Henry scored seven of the last 10 points of the stanza for Hartford, which shot 50 percent (5-for-10) from behind the arc during that stretch.

The Seawolves came out of the break hot, turning their 11-point deficit into an eventual six-point lead (53-47) thanks to a 15-0 run with 10:47 to go. The Hawks clawed their way back, though, as a 6-0 run fueled by four points from Ellison put them back in front. The game would see three more ties, but Hartford used the free-throw line to hold off Stony Brook and preserve the win.
