VESTAL, N.Y. — Sierra Smith scored a team-high 10 points, as the Hartford women's basketball team fell to America East foe Binghamton on the road, 80-44, inside the Events Center on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Hawks fell to 0-21 on the year and 0-8 in the America East, while the Bearcats improved to 14-6 on the season and 4-4 in conference play.
BINGHAMTON 80, HARTFORD 44
The Bearcats got off to a fast start using the first eight minutes of play to go on a 22-5 run and took a 24-9 lead into the second quarter. The Hawks battled back in the second quarter, outscoring the Bearcats, 15-7, through the first seven minutes of the period to cut the deficit to 31-24. However, Binghamton held Hartford scoreless the final three minutes of the half and took a 35-24 lead into the break.
After the Bearcats built their lead up to 39-24, the Hawks responded with an 8-1 run to cut the deficit to 40-32 with 6:11 to go in the third quarter. Binghamton responded by closing the quarter with a 19-2 run to take a 25-point lead into the fourth. The deficit proved to be too much for the Hawks as they eventually fell, 80-44.
