POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Marist used eight unanswered goals to break open a 5-4 lead and defeat Hartford men's lacrosse by an eventual 14-6 final Tuesday at Tenney Field. Tyler Corpora tallied three points behind two goals to pace the Hawks (1-3).
MARIST 14, HARTFORD 6
With senior
Nicholas Vazquez striking first out of the opening faceoff, Hartford and Marist traded goals throughout the first quarter to the tune of a 3-3 draw. Jojo Pirreca would give the Red Foxes their first lead of the game 1:16 into the second, before Tierney made it 5-3 just over one minute later.
Junior
Justin Tkachuk pulled the Hawks within one late in the half, but Tierney's third strike of the half restored Marist's two-goal lead at halftime at 6-4. The Red Foxes extended their run into the second half, scoring five straight in the third before tacking on two more tallies to build a 13-4 cushion with 7:50 remaining. Hartford would stop the bleeding with back-to-back scores from Corpora and senior
Owen Trepeta, before the Red Foxes closed out the scoring with 97 seconds left.

- Freshman Anthony Sericolo and Vazquez each recorded their first career goals for Hartford
- Marist has won the past two games in a series that favors Hartford, 9-3
- The Red Foxes held a 15-of-24 edge inside the faceoff X in addition to holding advantages in ground balls (30-25) and shots (52-33)
- Sophomore Cam Logan registered 16 saves in net for the Hawks, while Marist's starting goalie Jake MacGregor had 10 in 55 minutes
